History of Animation

Before I chose Digital Media Design, I was keen to do Animation at University because I was so interested in it, so I did a fair amount of research into all the different devices such as the Phenakistoscope  and Praxinoscope which both shaped the direction of animation to where it is today and innovators such Walt Disney who’s company is quite possibly one of the most powerful businesses in the world as well as Pixar whose idea to create 3D animation on a motion length feature completely changed how animated movies are now done (which I will write about in another post).
What I always found interesting about Disney Cartoons was how characters such as Cinderella and Snow White are actually based on live models and drawn over in individual drawings, frame by frame, an extremely time consuming job; which shows how detailed and well crafted Disney wanted his animations to be.Image
